Ogilvy & Mather appoints Leih to worldwide board
LONDON - Gary Leih, chairman and chief executive of Ogilvy Group UK, has been appointed to the worldwide board of Ogilvy & Mather.
Leih began his career at Ogilvy Cape Town in 1980 and went on to become group account director at Ogilvy Johannesburg.
In 1989, he co-founded The White House, which won agency of the year awards in South Africa in 1991, 1992 and 1993.

Leih relocated to Australia in 1994 to work at agencies The Campaign Palace and Batey, before setting up his own brand consultancy Public Image in 1999, which was acquired by TBWA. He then became managing director of TBWA\Sydney for two years before returning to Ogilvy Africa in 2001 as group managing director.
In May 2005, Leih moved to London to take up the role of chairman and chief executive of the Ogilvy Group UK.
Ogilvy's client roster includes Avis, Chiquita, EasyJet and First Great Western Railways. The WPP agency has 500 offices in more than 100 countries worldwide.
