Airbus calls global advertising review

by Noel Bussey, Campaign 06-Oct-06

The aeroplane manufacturer Airbus has approached five network agencies to handle its global corporate above-the-line account.

Euro RSCG currently handles the business. Airbus declined to name which
agencies had been approached or if the incumbent has been asked to
repitch.

The winning agency will be briefed with creating global campaigns

backing the launch of Airbus products. The initial thrust of the

business will be to promote the company's much-vaunted giant passenger
plane, the A380.

The advertising will be mainly business-to-business but will also
include elements of business-to-consumer.

However, the winning agency will have a tough job on its hands with
production on the model having been dogged by problems.

The launch of the A380, officially announced with a huge fanfare in
January 2005, has been put back on numerous occasions and the first
plane is now not expected to be delivered until October next year.
