UK ad industry heads report findings
Figures in the latest Gunn Report demonstrate that Britain's advertising industry is one of the most creative in the world.
Britain's advertising industry received more awards than any other
nation in 2006, according to the findings of the most recent Gunn
Report. It is the first time that the US has been knocked from the top

Creativity in the UK's agencies remains of a world-beating standard,
with five out of this year's ten most-awarded commercials coming out of
shops in the UK.
The British success story was spearheaded by the Guinness "noitulove"
spot from Abbott Mead Vickers BBDO, which has emerged as the
most-awarded TV and cinema ad in the world.
Fallon London's "balls" for Sony Bravia came in second, while Honda's
"impossible dream" and "choir", both by Wieden & Kennedy, as well as
Vodafone's "stop the clock" by JWT London, all appeared in the top
ten.
The Gunn Report combines the winners from the world's top regional,
national and global awards ceremonies. Agencies and brands are awarded
points for each qualifying entry and each best of show.
Omnicom continued to dominate in the most creative network rankings.
BBDO came in at number one, nine points ahead of DDB, which topped the
table two years ago. TBWA\Worldwide took third place. WPP's JWT rocketed
up from ninth to fourth place in the table.
Donald Gunn, the former Cannes president and ex-Leo Burnett creative,
commented: "BBDO has proven again 'the work, the work, the work' is more
than just a slogan, it's a way of life. Its clients should be proud of
it, and it should be proud of itself."
DDB London was named the most-awarded agency in the world. Abbott Mead
Vickers BBDO shared third place, while Wieden & Kennedy and JWT London
came in at sixth and seventh positions respectively.
In "the most-awarded print ads" category, DDB London also topped the
table with its "calender months" campaign for Harvey Nichols. JWT
London's "Golden Skins Crisps" work for Golden Wonder scooped third
place.
MJZ was the most-awarded production company in 2006, finishing ten
points ahead of the rest of the field. Its major winner came in its work
for Sony Bravia's "balls", directed by Nicolai Fuglsig.
Gorgeous Enterprises came in third with its successful "mayfly" campaign
for Vodafone and DFT's Road Safety "cameraphone". Stink took fourth
position with work that included Honda's "impossible dream" and Rexona's
"Stunt City".
In the director's category, Daniel Kleinman ended up in third position,
having been in the director's chair for "noitulove", as well as winning
accolades at top shows for five other clients.
The most-awarded director was last year's runner-up, Thanonchai
Sornsriwichai, from Thailand. Argentina's Andy Fogwill was second.
