Telegraph new-media head Van den Belt to leave

LONDON - Annelies van den Belt, Telegraph Media Group's new-media director, is to leave the company after 15 months.

There are no details about who will be taking over from Van den Belt, who is credited with significantly developing the Daily and Sunday Telegraph's online platforms, but it is understood her departure is not related to the group's intended job cuts.

Van den Belt joined the Telegraph Media Group from Times Online, where she was new-media development manager. At the Telegraph, she has been responsible for recruiting a team of digital specialists as the newspaper group moved into its new headquarters in London's Victoria.

She was nominated the ninth most influential person in UK online journalism in Press Gazette last week.

A spokesman for Telegraph Media Group said: "Annelies and her team have succeeded in the task of bringing digital to the heart of the Telegraph Media Group."

A spokesperson for the Telegraph added that there were currently no details on who Van den Belt's replacement might be or where she will be moving to next.

Last week, John McGurk, former editor of The Scotsman, relinquished his role as managing editor of the Telegraph Group after just four months amid speculation of internal rifts with senior management.
