AOL appoints Andy Jonesco as UK managing director
LONDON - AOL has appointed its senior vice-president of audience, Andy Jonesco, to the newly created role of AOL UK managing director.
AOL is in the process of recasting itself as a portal-only business in the UK, France, Germany and the Netherlands, and Jonesco's appointment is viewed as part of that ongoing strategy.
Jonesco, who is a former managing director of Express Newspapers, will oversee the company's business through its UK portal, and its partnership with Carphone Warehouse. He joined AOL in May 2002 as commercial director.

He will also become head of pan-European sales and interactive marketing alliances for AOL Europe, where he will report to the division's newly appointed president, Carlo d'Asaro Biondo.
Jonesco's move follows the departure of former AOL European president Karen Thomson, who left the company at the beginning of the month after 11 years service, and was replaced by d'Asaro Biondo.
Jonesco initially managed the interactive marketing team, before being promoted to head of the audience business, where he oversaw AOL UK's online content and paid-for ad services.
