LONDON - IPC Ignite! has promoted Clair Porteous, former marketing manager at Loaded, to the role of Nuts publisher.

Porteous, who was named marketing manager of 2004 by IPC for her work at Loaded, was head of marketing at Nuts when it launched last year and is credited with building the lads' mag's initial sampling campaign, which targeted 1.5m readers.

She joined IPC Ignite! in 2002 and worked on Nuts and its sister title Loaded, where she helped develop the marketing strategy and implementation for Loaded's relaunch in April this year.

Porteous said: "[Nuts] has redefined men's lifestyle publishing and re-engaging men across the UK with its compelling editorial mix in print and online."

IPC named Jo Smalley, former publisher of Nuts, to the role of publishing director across Nuts and Loaded in September, after Eric Fuller was promoted to managing director of IPC Ignite! in August.

Phil Hilton, launch editor of Nuts, is to leave the title in January after three years and nearly 150 issues, to pursue other interests.

Nuts appointed Hans Seeburg as deputy editor in July, following the departure of Derek Harbinson to Dennis Publishing's Maxim.

In the latest ABC figures, Nuts was comfortably ahead of Emap's rival title Zoo, recording a circulation of 304,785, compared with Zoo's 228,024.
