BBC America is a co-producer of 'Gideon's Daughter'. It is a TalkBack production for BBC and BBC America and was premiered on BBC America in March 2006.
Kathryn Mitchell, BBC America general manager, said: "BBC America is honoured and thrilled to have been involved in such a great project from Stephen Poliakoff."
Nighy said: "I'm a tremendous admirer of Stephen Poliakoff, who is both brilliant and inspirational. And I was honoured to work with the very talented Emily Blunt, who also received an award tonight, and Miranda Richardson, one of the finest actresses the world has ever known."
The night was a successful one for UK talent, with Helen Mirren picking up the Best Actress award for her role in the film 'The Queen', and for Sacha Baron Cohen for his 'Borat: Cultural Learnings of America For Make Benefit Glorious Nation of Kazakhstan', which won the award for Best Actor in a Musical or Comedy. The wins for Cohen could tip him for an unexpected Oscar.
