Internet TV service Joost strikes content deal with Viacom
LONDON - Joost, which uses file-sharing technology to deliver near-DVD quality video content to marry TV with social networking, has announced a major partnership with Viacom.
Backed by the founder of music-sharing service Kazaa, Niklas Zennstrom, and the founder of internet phone service Skype, Janus Friis, Joost uses to peer-to-peer technology to let users build their own channels, chat to other users, and access online content provided by the internet broadcaster.

As a result of the Viacom deal, Joost will carry current and past MTV programmes including Laguna Beach, Beavis & Butthead, Real World, Punk'd and My Super Sweet Sixteen. Viacom is also making available shows from Comedy Central, Nickelodeon, CMT: Country Music Television, MTV2, Logo, Spike TV and VH1.
In addition, Paramount Pictures, Paramount Vantage and Paramount Classics will offer full-length feature films from its catalogue of classics and recent releases.
