Digital screen first for Streetbroadcast

Media Week 27-Feb-07

Outdoor advertiser Streetbroadcast has turned on its first digital screen ahead of a planned 1,000-screen roll-out in May.

The unit, which is called a Communicator and can show static content by
the roadside or full motion digital video in pedestrian areas, has been
installed in the centre of Liverpool to complete testing of

communication speeds ahead of commercial installations.

Streetbroadcast, which has previously offered point-of-sale and roadside
poster sites only, is now converting its six-sheets into digital
screens.

All the Communicators, which can be viewed on a web camera, allowing
advertisers to see who their message is being transmitted to at any
time, will come with Bluetooth capabilities, as well as the facility to
be able to broadcast sound.

Installations in May include major shopping outlets and city centres.
Four of the top 12 cities, including Glasgow, Liverpool and Coventry,
have agreed to install Communicator units as part of their StreetTV
network.

Advertisers signed up to the test site in Liverpool include Hewlett
Packard, Vodafone and Malmaison.
