Ofcom to probe pay-TV market
LONDON - Ofcom has agreed to launch an investigation into the pay-TV market following the public row between Virgin and BSkyB, which resulted in Sky removing its channels from the rival platform.
The regulator will also examine BSkyB's proposal to launch a new pay-TV service on the DTT platform.
It has acted following lobbying from BT, Setanta, Top Up TV, Virgin Media, the Ofcom consumer panel and the National Consumer Council.

The investigation will be concerned with features of the market including control over content, ownership of distribution platforms, retail subscriber bases and vertical integration.
