EasyJet rebuked for emissions ad
EasyJet has been rapped by the Advertising Standards Authority (ASA) for a print ad protesting against the hike in Air Passenger Duty announced in Gordon Brown's pre-Budget report.
The ad read: 'Because we operate Europe's most modern fleet, our planes
emit 30% fewer emissions per passenger mile than traditional airlines.'
The ASA ruled it was likely to mislead, as easyJet could not prove newer

planes had 30% fewer emissions per passenger mile. Instead, the claim
was based on the airline being able to carry more passengers per plane
than traditional rivals.
EasyJet was told not to repeat the claim. The firm said the ad was a
one-off.
