Sainsbury's faces fall-out over designer shopping bag

PrintWeek 03-May-07, 08:00

Printers fearing their sales might be blighted by Anya Hindmarch’s ‘I’m not a Plastic bag’ have probably got a wry smile on their faces.

It was revealed last week that the bag, launched by Sainsbury’s in 450 of its stores, was actually made in China – calling its carbon footprint and ethical status into question.

The supermarket giant said: “The point of the bag is it can be re-used, thereby saving millions of plastic bags from being used in future.”
