Northcliffe rolls out local sports sites

LONDON - Northcliffe Media is to launch a series of sport websites for its newspaper titles in the North East of England.

The first site, sporthull.co.uk, went live this week and is linked to the Hull Daily Mail and covers events in Hull and East Riding in Yorkshire. Further sites will be rolled out in Grimsby, Scunthorpe and Lincoln, with a view to move out to the rest of Northcliffe's portfolio.

Sporthull.co.uk will carry articles and video reports, covering football, rugby league and ice hockey, from the Mail's sporting journalists, as well as user-generated content.

It will also cover semi-professional games, as Hull has four main professional clubs: football league team hull City; Rugby League rivals Hull FC and Hull Kingston Rovers and ice hockey team Hull Stingrays. An interactive area for fans will have a message board, blogs and pictures.
