LONDON - Film4 is to sponsor horror and fantasy film festival FrightFest for two years, and will run a late-night FrightFest season.

The film festival is taking place at the Odeon West End over five days over the August Bank Holiday from August 23 to 27.

Katie Hayes, Channel 4's marketing manager for drama, acquisitions and Film4, said: "Film4 is pleased to be associated with this country's most well-loved and respected premiere event for horror film fans.

"Film4's own horror film strand, Saturday Night Shocks, has been hugely successful and our association with FrightFest will allow us to schedule a complementary FrightFest season on the channel, taking this genre of film to an even wider audience."

In the festival's seven-year run it has helped launch the careers of Christopher Smith, the director of 'Creep', and Eli Roth, the director of 'Hostel'.
