HONG KONG - WPP-owned below-the-line agency BatesAsia 141 has recruited John Lambie to grow the agency's digital and new media business.

A key focus for Lambie, who takes the newly created regional integration director post, will be to recruit digital marketing experts to the firm and offer digital expertise to account teams.

Lambie reports to Digby Richards, BatesAsia 141 chief operating officer, who said: "At BatesAsia 141, we're embracing the biggest change in our industry by baking digital into our standard offerings and hiring an expert such as John will help steer us."

He joins Bates Asia 141 from McCann Erickson in Australia and previously held roles at XM Asia and XM Australia.

Lambie says that his areas of interest include the social impact of new media and social networking.

He said: "Integration is really about giving people the cues to find and engage with your brand with the tools they prefer to use, not building a fortress of media silos around your brand".
