Emap and GCap radio deal rumours raised

by Media Week, Media Week 05-Jun-07

Speculation is rife that rivals GCap and Emap are in discussions about forming a single radio group to rival the BBC.

Were the deal to take place, it would effectively mean Emap selling its
radio assets to GCap and retaining a series of publications including
some magazines that link up with radio brands. Emap Radio has put its

Irish radio business up for sale and is developing content for Channel

4's second national digital multiplex bid, but the future of the
division is in question.

Industry insiders told Media Week talks were underway, but GCap and Emap
were not able to comment at the time of going to press.
