Careers: What's it really like inside - Tiger Beer

Marketing 06-Jun-07

- Tiger Beer is brewed in Singapore, Thailand, Vietnam, Papua New Guinea, Cambodia, Malaysia and China. Does the marketing team ever get to visit these exotic places?

Yes, definitely. Each year our parent company holds a brand conference
where all the marketing teams get together to meet and share ideas and
plans in their markets. It is a great opportunity to meet people from

all over the world. Last year we went to Thailand; this year the

conference is in Malaysia.

- Does the team have access to endless supplies of free beer?

Perhaps not endless - after all, we do promote responsible drinking -
but in our office we do have a fridge full of beer, so after a hard day
we often relax with a refreshingly cold one.

- Do you all drink Tiger on nights out?

Of course.

- What are the other perks of the job?

Tiger sponsors a lot of cool events, such as the Gumball 3000 rally
launch party at the Trocadero. We also sponsor the green room for Friday
Night with Jonathan Ross, so we get tickets to go to that.

- How do you come up with new marketing ideas?

We have brainstorming sessions and ask people from all areas of the
business for ideas. We also work with some great agencies and keep our
eye on our competitors.

- What are the hours like?

Our official hours are 9am-5.30pm, but the time difference between us
and Singapore and New Zealand means early starts. Breakfast conference
calls are a regular occurrence.

- What's it like for career progression?

As we are a small firm in the UK, it is fairly limited, but there are
opportunities within our parent, Asia Pacific Breweries, to work
abroad.

- Is there a dress code?

Not really. Everyone is pretty casual, unless we have important
meetings.

- Does the marketing team socialise outside office hours?

As the majority of us drive to work, going to the pub after work doesn't
happen much. On Fridays, though, we often go to the pub at lunchtime,
and in the summer we sometimes play cricket in the park.

- Is there anything particularly interesting about your office?

Tiger's advertising through the years is displayed throughout and we
have some authentic Asian items, such as Chinese lanterns and gongs.
