Marsden quits top role as News Magazines director

News Magazines commercial director Karl Marsden has left the company without a job to go as the fledging publisher regroups and focuses on its core contract, to publish Sky's customer magazine.

Marsden, who joined the company from IPC at the beginning of 2006, will
continue to work with it as a consultant.

His move follows a change in News Magazine's game plan. The company,
which is a division of News International and launched in September

2005, took over the publication of the seven million-circulation Sky

Magazine this month, leading it to shelve other launch plans. The
magazine is the largest in the UK and is a massive contract for a
company the size of News Magazines.

Its only other title is real-life women's weekly Love It!, following the
closure of monthly interiors title Inside Out in January.

However, there has been speculation that it could take over the
publication of Sunday Times Travel from River Publishing, thus bringing
the title back into the News International group.

News Magazines chief executive Camilla Rhodes said Marsden would
continue to act as a consultant for the company, adding that he had been
"a great asset to our business and we wish him well in whatever he
decides to do next".

Marsden said it was a "timely moment to step out of the business full
time".
