Vodafone links with DatingDirect to offer mobile dating
LONDON - Vodafone UK has teamed up with online dating service DatingDirect.com to offer dating via mobile phone.
Vodafone will be able to provide its UK customers with quick and easy access to DatingDirect.com's database of 3.5m active members.
Consumers will be able to access the dating service through the Vodafone mobile internet service and experience all the same functionality as the website. They will be able to browse images and profiles, and manage their own content including uploading photographs and adding new text.

Members will also receive alerts to notify them when another member has visited their profile, following which they can choose to reply by email or chat live with other members using their mobile phone.
Alistair Shrimpton, newly appointed managing director of DatingDirect.com, said: "As the European market leader for dating services we recognise the importance of bringing innovative new services to the market.
"This is DatingDirect.com on your mobile, any place, any time, in partnership with the world's largest mobile operator."
Last month, Vodafone launched a £16m integrated drive to position itself as a mobile internet provider. The campaign, created by Bartle Bogle Hegarty, showed how Vodafone's mobile internet service gives consumers the time to make the most of their busy lives.

Dating Dircet has recently been revamped. There is no "contact us" option on the website despite the T&C's saying there is. A number of blogs are appearing on the internet complaining about this site taking money from customers and then not providing a service. Email replies to the company bounce back....advising people to contact via the site. This is not possible because the site does not have a contact option!! All subscritions are on auto -renewal. The link to cancel auto-renewal does not work. The postal address for Dating Direct is the same as a telephone sex line. Nothing wrong with that but the site has deteriorated since new ownership. Customers should seriously consider about whether to join this site. Dating Direct will bring nothing but problems for Vodaphone.
