LONDON - Save the Children has appointed Carat to handle its estimated £3m media planning and buying account ahead of a major advertising push in 2007.

The charity didn't previously have a roster media agency.
The independent children's charity has also appointed creative agencies Wieden & Kennedy and Partners Andrews Aldridge to support its communications strategy into 2008.

Save the Children plans to advertise this year across television, outdoor, online, print and in schools up and down the country as part of its biggest ever media drive.

Several teams within Aegis-owned Carat are competing to develop the best strategy for Save the Children, managing director Neil Jones told Media Week.
He said: "The charity will really benefit from the creativity and idea generation of this unique collaborative approach and we're looking forward to helping it achieve its goals."
This latest win takes Carat's total account wins during 2007 to 12, including Birds Eye and The Carbon Trust, and its new business billings to £45.5m.
