LONDON - Kantar, WPP's market research division, has taken the unusual step of appointing a creative director, in the form of Aziz Cami, founder of design agency The Partners.

Cami has been hired to help companies in the Kantar group, which include Millward Brown, Henley Centre Headlight Vision and Research International, to be more innovative in the way they work with clients.

He will focus on new product development, concept development and retail. The appointment marks the first time that Kantar has appointed a creative director and it is virtually unheard of for a market search company to hire one.

Cami has been in the design industry for 30 years, and is known for his work on brands such as De Beers, Asprey, Harrods and Saks Fifth Avenue.

He is a one-time D&AD president, during 1992-1993, and the winner of D&AD Yellow Pencils, DBA Design Effectiveness Awards, the Art Director's Club of New York and Communication Arts.
