Isba warning over social networking
The Incorporated Society of British Advertisers has warned brands looking to advertise on social networking sites to act with caution.
The warning was issued following the revelation that MySpace has removed
the profiles of more than 29,000 sex offenders.
While Isba's marketing services manager Alex Ricketts said that the
ADVERTISEMENT
viewed as a "step in the right direction" and was not "a cause to throw
caution to the wind".
A recent report by Group M shows that 70% of UK social networkers are
prepared to include sponsored content on their personal page, while 10%
have already branded their space. However, Ricketts cautioned that
advertisers should ensure that the site content is appropriate for their
brand and to be aware of the possible risks.
