The pitch, which ran for almost a year, was delayed by Cathay Pacific's
acquisition of a controlling stake in Dragon Air, a rival carrier
operating between Hong Kong and China. The deal, which gives Cathay the
opportunity to tap into China's growth potential, led to the pitch being

Following the agreement, the pitch was widened to incorporate Dragon
Air's inflight magazines in addition to Cathay Pacific's existing
portfolio. These include Discovery, its in-flight title with a print-run
of about 200,000; an in-flight shopping magazine; and Executive Club,
which has a circulation of about 8000.
