LONDON - Kadence has been appointed by the UK's gas safety body, Corgi with the research aspect of the carbon monoxide awareness campaign.

Known as "the silent killer", carbon monoxide causes dozens of deaths and serious injuries every year. The campaign has been driven by government and is co-sponsored by some of the UK's largest energy suppliers including British Gas and E.ON.

Kadence will manage an on-going programme of telephone and online interviews with gas installers as well as the general public, with a focus on hard-to-reach groups such as students in rented accommodation.

The research will measure awareness of CO, understanding of dangers, attitudes in regards to safety and prevention, behaviours such as purchasing and installing CO alarms and checking gas appliances and fire places.

This campaign is underpinned by previous research Kadence undertook for Corgi, which sized the penetration of illegal gas workers within the UK market.

Matthew Coulter, account director of Kadence in Europe, said: "Kadence works with many of the world's largest manufacturers and suppliers of building products, and values a close relationship with CORGI that began in 2005. However, this is the first time that the work undertaken by the Kadence team potentially helps to save lives."
