Cole aims to strengthen ITV online team

by Emma Barnett, Media Week 16-Oct-07

ITV has appointed Gary Cole as the head of revenues for ITV.com and Friends Reunited.

Cole joins ITV from The Telegraph, where he held the position of head of
online advertising.

In his new role he will be responsible for building a strong online
sales team in order to maximise the revenues of both ITV.com and Friends

Reunited.

Cole will report to Annelies van den Belt, managing director of ITV.com,
and to Gary Knight, ITV's brand partnerships director. Cole replaces
Vanessa Kent, who was controller of online sales, but left to return to
Australia.

He was previously in charge of all digital revenues within The Telegraph
Media Group. During his time there, he delivered a 47% uplift in digital
revenues.

Prior to that, he spent time at Deal Group Media.

ITV has also recruited Aaron Tighe from Turner to take up the new role
of head of product development.

He will be responsible for introducing different types of products to
the website and expanding on the services it already offers.

This could range from developing the video capabilities to the
introduction of microsites on the back of programmes.

Tighe will also report to van den Belt when he joins ITV.

While at Turner, he held the role of product development director for
CNN.

Based in the US, he was in charge of overseeing strategic development
for the group's video brands.
