War Child puts Twitter on new-look web site

War Child, the charity working for children affected by war, is putting its biggest effort into online to date, working with Bristol-based agency Enable Interactive.

A completely overhauled web site makes use of Twitter, in a bid to get
information from the field to the public, raise awareness and ultimately
drive donations. Twitter feeds will feature for each country within the

site, while a generic UK feed on the homepage will keep visitors up to

date with campaigns and events. The plan is to update feeds at least
daily.

"Blogging from the field is a time burden for our staff, plus many of
them are local, so their English is limited. Twitter, with its
140-character limit, solves these potential problems and gives real
immediacy to the project - it only takes 30 seconds to send a text,"
said Will Lord, online campaigns manager at War Child.

War Child is also relaunching its music download service at
www.warchildmusic.com in the next few months. The site, a collaboration
with Seven Digital, is already promoted on MySpace and Facebook (around
30 per cent of traffic is referred from MySpace). An exclusive
pre-release for Keane's upcoming single The Night Sky is planned.
