As members of the programme, teachers will receive an email every half term, which will keep them up-to-date with relevant forthcoming features published in The Times, The Sunday Times and Times Online, from which teachers will have the opportunity to request free activity packs on the subjects.
The activity packs will include fun and educational worksheets and activities that teachers can utilise as a resource to support lesson plans.
The first pack covers Ancient Egypt and ties in with The Times media partnership with the 'Tutankhamun and The Golden Age of the Pharohs' exhibition, due to open at the O2 arena on November 15.
The activity packs will also include opportunities for schools to win prizes, based on the particular theme of the pack. The current prize is a class trip to the Tutankhamun exhibition.
Katie Vanneck, sales and marketing director of Times Media, said: "The programme [Engaging Minds] is designed to stimulate interaction and learning in interesting, fun and thought-provoking ways, inspire and support teachers by providing material that is timely and relevant, and promote education by selecting topics that are relevant to children and appropriate to the National curriculum."
