LONDON - Setanta Sports has appointed Ben Carter, the founder of Evolv Digital, as its online marketing and acquisition manager.

Carter, who has 10 years experience in the marketing industry, will now lead Setanta Sports' digital marketing and new subscribers business through the broadcaster's online display, search and affiliate marketing technology.

He is the founder of online agency Evolv Digital, formerly BCA, where he handled client work for AOL, nPower, British Gas and O2, and is a former news editor of Haymarket's Marketing magazine. He is a regular contributor to Talk Radio, The Evening Standard and CNN on marketing issues.

Timothy Ryan, UK marketing director at Setanta Sports, said: "Ben has a wealth of experience in digital marketing, and as a former journalist he is used to moving at the speed which digital marketing requires.

"As online becomes an increasingly important channel to Setanta, Ben brings both attitude and experience that will help us to accelerate this growth."

Last week, Setanta Sports News announced it is recruiting fan correspondents for each Premier League football team as part of its plans to increase user-generated content on its programmes.
