LONDON - Teen portal Piczo has joined forces with pop culture content provider Spleak Media Network to launch a celebrity gossip platform called CelebSpleak on its social networking site.

CelebSpleak features short form gossip content, 250 characters or less, which users can create, rate and share with their friends online.

Users can add CelebSpleak as a widget to their profile page and instantly give their opinions or comment on celebrities.

The content is also available through instant messaging applications including AIM and MSN/Windows Live Messenger, as well as social networking site MySpace.

Users cannot post their personal information or photos on the application, which is also moderated and screened for offensive content.

Morrie Eisenberg, chief executive of Spleak Media Network, said: "Teenagers today even see blogs as outdated and internet video as too slow in terms of getting information.

"They want to consume online content quickly and be 'in the know' without navigating away from their IM buddy list or social networking site.

"CelebSpleak provides the celebrity gossip our users care about, the way they want it, and gives them the power of a citizen journalism in seconds."

Spleak Media Network plans to launch more short-form content, focused on other areas of high interest to teens, in the coming year.
