Discovery, Nat Geo expand Virgin Media on-demand

LONDON - Virgin Media is beefing up its VoD offering with 80 hours of additional content from National Geographic and Discovery

The deal helps to expand the factual and lifestyle programming available through Virgin Media’s VoD line-up. Content from both providers will be available to Virgin Media customers from later this month.

National Geographic content on the service will include documentaries such as In The Womb and Supervolcanoes Investigated. Shows from Discovery include the Deadliest Catch and Mythbusters.

The two content deals are the first of an expected flurry of VoD programming deals for Virgin Media. The company plans to expand its VoD library from around 3,700 hours at present to around 5,000 hours by early next year.
