LONDON - Time Out has appointed Mark Elliott, a former publisher of Empire, as publisher of its London magazine and website.

Elliot, who has been working as a freelance consultant at Emap mainly on women's magazines Heat and Closer, will join in January.

He will report to Time Out founder Tony Elliott (no relation) and work closely with commercial director Grahame Tottle.

Elliott said: "Time Out has been expanding internationally and they wanted someone to focus on the key London listings title and the digital side."The group launched an edition in Sydney last month, taking its total of international version to 20.

Elliott has more than 20 years' experience, including a long spell at Emap where he was the publisher of Empire. Prior to his current spell as a freelance consultant, he worked for 14 months at publisher Brooklands Group on its property titles and short-lived launch Popworld Pulp.
