Birmingham on the defensive

PR Week UK 05-Dec-07, 18:59

Birmingham City Council has defended itself following reports that it spends £10m a year on publicity.

The TaxPayers’ Alliance this week named the council as the biggest spender in 2006-07, based on data received from 470 councils.

Birmingham’s comms director Deborah Davis said: ‘We are spending less per head on publicity… and our percentage increase over 10 years is the lowest of the top 20 authorities on the list.’
