LONDON - Mobile operator Orange has signed a content deal with sports broadcaster Setanta to stream live coverage of Barclays Premier League football matches via its mobile portal, Orange World.

The mobile network is the first in the UK to broadcast Setanta Sports 1 and 2 and Setanta Golf via mobile. The service costs £5 per month to Orange mobile TV customers with a 3G handset.

As well as Barclays Premier League games, Orange mobile customers accessing Setanta will be able to view live Scottish Premier League football, as well as the PGA Golf Tour and Magners Rugby League.

All UK mobile phone networks currently carry rival News International-backed video-on-demand football service, 24-7 Football, which offers highlights from the UEFA Champions League and Barclays Premier League games for which BSkyB holds the rights.
