Argos has given a three year contract to Iris PR after work on a product sold at the store made popular by TV show Dragon's Den.

The iTeddy, one of the most successful Dragon's Den products, was promoted using Iris PR last year.

This year, Argos has taken on the agency to handle consumer news and features generation.

‘The programme will feature proactive news campaigns targeting the national print, broadcast and online media as well as consumer titles,' said Iris PR director Bill McIntyre. ‘We will also be rolling out a series of activities to support the multi-channel retailer's 700 stores across the country'.

The account was won after three-way competitive pitch. PRWeek understands it is worth over £100,000 for each of the three years. Iris declined to comment on fees.

Sputnik Communications’ five year relationship with Argos, covering product placement, catalogue launches and other consumer-facing PR activity remains unaffected.
