Sharing ad revenue with YouTube creators helps marketers target ads

LONDON - People in the UK who create original content for YouTube can now generate revenue for their efforts. The company says the initiative will enable marketers to target their ads based on viewer tastes and interests.

In December the company launched the YouTube Partner Program to people living in the US and Canada. This week the company is extending the revenue sharing program to its most prolific original content creators in this country. Anyone living in the UK can apply to become a partner at uk.youtube.com/partners. Users whose content generate significant view figures and subscribers will be eligible.

For marketers, the company says its Partner Program expands the quality and scope of video content available to them.

'As more and more individual content creators enrol in the program, advertisers are now capable of reaching more qualified consumers by targeting their campaigns to user-generated partner videos tailored to unique interests and tastes of their target audiences,' the company said.

Since its North American launch, millions of video views each day have earned revenue for YouTube partners. Not all creators, however, will want to have ads running next to their creations.
