LONDON - Market research giant Ipsos has reported a revenue rise of 8.2% for 2007 to €927m (£693m), boosted by a strong performance in its European division.

There was a 12% rise in European revenues, which contributed €449m to the total.

Ipsos had anticipated its North American division would perform well in 2007 after a strong performance the year before; however, revenues in the US fell 2% to €285m in 2007.

Revenues in Latin America jumped by 19% to €101m and in the Asia-Pacific and Middle East region, revenues rose 14.5% to €92m.

The company's media research division saw a 13.5% rise in revenue to €66.7m in 2007. Its advertising research division contributed €199.7m in 2007, a rise of 10% from 2006.

However, Ipsos' market research division still brings in the most revenue and posted a steady performance in 2007. The division earned €445m, up 6% on the €420m recorded the year before.

Ipsos predicts its full-year revenues for 2008 will exceed €1bn, providing the global economy does not experience a major recession.

The company is expected to release its complete 2007 annual results on March 18.
