HarperCollins poaches new digital development director from Sky
LONDON - HarperCollins Publishers has today announced that Charlie Redmayne, currently head of commercial partnerships at Sky, will be its new director of digital development.
Redmayne will report to chief executive and publisher Victoria Barnsley in this newly-created role and will sit on the executive committee. He is due to start on Monday, March 3rd.
In his new role, Redmayne will be responsible for implementing a company-wide digital strategy, to boost digital income and expoit potential digital revenues by maximising the publisher's content across multiple platforms and channels.

On a day-to-day basis, he will oversee group digital publishing projects, including audio and e-books, forming strategic deals with external digital contacts and spearheading new initiatives.
He brings 18 years of advertising and internet publishing experience, beginning with TV ad sales at TVAM and then Sky, before launching media buying and sponsorhsip company, RCL Communications.
In 2000, Redmayne launched web publishing business Mykindaplace, which created sites for the teenage and 45-plus market. The business was sold to Sky in June 2006, and he continued to run it until September 2007, when he moved to Sky as head of commerical partnerships for its online business unit.
