LONDON - Three major record labels have made their entire digital catalogues available online at MusicMakesFriends.com, an ad-supported streaming service.

Universal Music, Sony BMG and EMI Music have all signed agreements with MusicMakesFriends, a pan-European music community where users can legally listen to radio programmes created by other members.

Along with these major record label deals, a license agreement has been secured with The Orchard, a global digital content distributor. Together, these mean that around 80 per cent of all music marketed in Europe is available on MusicMakesFriends.com.

The music site positions itself as the first to be created by music fans, for music fans, in their own language (English, German, French and Spanish). All members can legally stream high-quality, full track radio programmes for free as many times as they want.

The site has also launched a premium subscription service, where a monthly fee opens up unlimited access to more than 1.5m streamed tracks on demand, along with other features.

The premium service operates in nine countries: Austria, Belgium, France, Germany, Ireland, Luxembourg, Spain, Switzerland, and the United Kingdom.

Major and independent record labels and their artists are remunerated for all services on MusicMakesFriends, through the advertising-supported or subscription-based model.
