Volkswagen launches revamped website

Volkswagen has unveiled its new consumer site, designed by Tribal to be a critical driver of purchase.

"Our brief was create the best automotive site on the internet - quite a
challenge," said Tom Roberts, VW site account director at Tribal.

The agency claims the new site is the result of 18 months of work by a

dedicated full-time team of 50.

New functionality includes real-time test-drive bookings made directly
with dealers, and a 3D car configurator that allows users to add
customisation options to images of the cars.

The relaunched site will be more accountable than previous sites. VW
will be able to tell who has visited, what type of car they are
interested in, how they customised their car online, and whether they
actually bought it.

Volkswagen's relationship marketing manager, Marianne Nicholas, said:
"Our research shows that people looking for a new car now do the
majority of their research on the internet, with visits to showrooms
more than halved. The challenge for us was to respond to this change and
ensure our website is equipped to give buyers and owners the information
they need at the touch of a button."
