Noel Fielding and Julian Barratt, the comedians behind the 'The Mighty Boosh', are reported to be speaking to lawyers about getting the ad pulled, according to a story in The Sun.

Sure it's similar, but that's all it is. The ad obviously sets out to appeal to a younger audience by adopting a "Rapper" type theme, and it sucessfully acheives that.
Tone similarity, beat type, are interms of intellectual property very hard to protect, any action for infringement brought by a party would find it very, very hard to secure. There are presedents, which would be relied upon in defence of any action.
The similarities are to all intents and purposes purely accidental, they are just similarities How would it be if "50cent" took action against another rapper, such as "emiem" ... totally ridicuilous.
I can't see what the problem is. Looks to me as if there are a few chancers out there,

I beg to differ. It's a rip off and abomination sir. If they wanted to crimp they should have asked Julian and Noel to do the advert alongside Mr Puff. Or just ignored the whole ridiculous idea. This is just going to alienate the kids. Innit.
Basically the Boosh guys own Crimping, it didn't exist until they created it, it's part of their show. It's just sad watching the un cool Hunster do it, brings back memories of watching Vannilla Ice trying to rap, nasty.
OMG they can't get away with this! in the words of tony harrison: "This is an outrage"
Howard Moon: "This is a travesty, sir"
Naboo (with a twist): "Honey Monster can suck my arse. this is war!"
im a big fan of the boosh! but what is all the fuss about so what if the hunster is crimping! if there gonna be so sad as to try and sue sugar puffs then there not the blokes i thought they were!! they should be flattered that people have taken it to there hearts! so all you ! for want of a better word saddos get a life!
I'm not impressed mr. honey monster.
I'm going to have to turn my back on you D<
Re: Steve Nunn
Dear Steve,
How would you feel if a company took something you had spent years rehearsing, developing and honing and used it for their own financial gain? This has nothing to do with "people taken it to there hearts" (*spell checks), what it has to do with is a comapny that has lost its place in the market to "hipper" competitors desperately trying to grab onto pop culture in an attempt to boast sales.
This ad is nothing more than uninspired replication and the company responsible should hang their heads.
After all where would we be if we all just copied each other?
I can't believe how pathetic this advert is, It is so incredibly lazy, they must have known that it would cause this sort of reaction!! sugar puffs dont really need to do this either, if you cant think of something for a 7 foot yellow monster to do to sell cereal you shouldn't be in advertising, are your minds so devoid of creativity that this is the best you could muster up, presumably after watching the crimping battle episode of the third series of the boosh the night before. Give up and stop ruining my day!
Lack of imagination, lack of conviction, lack of creativity. To use something so instantly recognisable as the mighty Crimp is laziness in the extreme. This kind of pointless (and frankly, lame) mimicry gives a bad name to those of us in the industry who are trying to push the boundaries of originality and creativity. Tsk, Sugar Puffs advertisers - go straight to the back of the class and don't expect to get a playtime anytime soon!
