Vince Power returns with 'no sponsorship no branding' music festival
LONDON - Mean Fiddler founder Vince Power is returning to the UK festival scene with an offering that promises to stand out from other outdoor events because it will not feature any corporate branding.
A Day at the Hop Farm will be headlined by Canadian folk rock legend Neil Young and takes place on Sunday, July 6 in Kent. Other acts have yet to be announced.

It proudly boasts that it will be "totally unbranded without any sponsorship, ticket registration or VIP areas" and will offer all attendees the same experience as everyone else who has bought a ticket.
It is a return to the UK festival scene by Power, who has been tied to a non-compete clause after selling his stake in the Mean Fiddler Group. However, he has been attracting UK festival goers to his Spanish summer festival, Benicassim -- dubbed Glastonbury by the sea.
Power said: "I am happy to be returning to create a new independent festival in a far more competitive marketplace, which counteracts the current brand-saturated music scene -- making the festival goers themselves the most important element of the event. My plan is to own and run more festivals across the UK and Europe in the future."
By making a deal of its lack of corporate sponsorship, A Day at the Hop Farm is distancing itself from events such as the O2 Wireless festival in London's Hyde Park, where attendees were greeted by a wall of people brandishing credit card application forms.
Glastonbury has also become more commercial, with everything from a branded festival guide to an Orange mobile phone recharging tent. The festival has also become as famous for pictures of celebrities such as Kate Moss traipsing around the VIP area, as for the artists who perform there.
