LETTER: Put patients first in pharma debate
While I agree with Danny Rogers' comments about the pharma sector having to face its reputation demons (Leader, 14 March), research by Ipsos Mori and PricewaterhouseCoopers shows that the industry's reputation is not that terrible.
The pharma industry exists because of the patient. If patients stop taking their medicines and ignore GP and pharmacist advice, this places their health and even lives at risk.
I urge healthcare editors to think carefully about the impact of their articles on patients' welfare and to include helpline numbers and support websites.
