MySpace commissions KateModern director to produce new web series
LONDON - Social networking site will pilot 'I Love Chieftown' in the UK this month, with a series of 60 five-minute webisodes to follow from September.
MySpace has commissioned director Pete Gibbons and Big Balls Films, which were behind the first series of Bebo online drama KateModern, to film the series.
I Love Chieftown follows lead character Jamie, an aspiring filmmaker, as she films an up-and-coming band. It will be shot close to transmission, and users will be allowed to help shape the stories, choose characters and even become an extra.

The series is the latest step in MySpace's commitment to bringing original content to its 110m active users worldwide.
As the exclusive partner, the site will provide a dedicated video channel and profile page for the series spotlighting exclusive interactive content including character profiles and behind-the-scenes footage.
Anthony Lukom, head of MySpace UK, said: 'The show will really engage an audience of younger MySpace users approaching their 20s who are going through the same experiences as the characters in the show, and we're confident of building a loyal fan base.'
