MySpace expands Latino site

SANTA MONICA: MySpace launched its redesigned Latino site, which includes more Hispanic-centric content.

A representative from Edelman Multicultural, which is handling PR for MySpace Latino (http://latino.myspace.com), said MySpace's policy prevents it from commenting on PR initiatives.

MySpace, however, said that upcoming promotional campaigns include offline concerts and events, a contest for up-and-coming Latino acts, interviews with bands, and a kick-off "Show Secreto" performance today, April 11, in Miami featuring Tego Calderón, electro-acoustic band Circo and Latin reggae band Locos por Juana.

MySpace Latino partnered with several media and music companies to develop content for the revamped Web site, including ImpreMedia, a Hispanic news and information company, which will provide sports content, and Gibson Guitars will host shows by Latin performers.

Other content providers include Billboard en Español, the Spanish Broadcasating System for the "Entérate" entertainment and fashion community, and Remezcla.com for the "En Tu Ciudad" section.
