The Week: People news - Highfield joins Kangaroo
Ashley Highfield, the director of future media and technology at the BBC, is leaving to become the chief executive of Kangaroo, the planned on-demand service from BBC Worldwide, Channel 4 and ITV.
He replaces the interim chief executive, Leslie MacKenzie, and takes
over before the service's planned launch later this year. Kangaroo will
host more than 10,000 hours of content, catch-up TV and archive
ADVERTISEMENT
programmes from the broadcasters, and will make money from advertising
and from charging fees to download some content.
