LONDON - Directgov, the Government's flagship digital service, has appointed vice-chairman of Ogilvy Group UK Rory Sutherland to its new board.

The board consists of 14 members and includes non-executive members from the private sector as well as public sector members.

Sutherland, who has been appointed as a non-executive director, is vice-chairman of Ogilvy Group UK and vice-chairman and executive creative director of OgilvyOne Worldwide. He is also widely published on the subject of new media digital channels.

Geraldine Terry and Bob Head have also been appointed as non-executive directors.

Terry has a background in retail and marketing and in her last position she was responsible for setting up Argos Direct. She has also served as a non-executive director for various parts of the Department for Transport and the Ministry of Justice.

The new appointments have been chosen to create a stronger cross-departmental board.

Keith Bedell-Pearce, non-executive chairman of Directgov, said: "The new directors bring a wealth of practical experience to the re-structured board. The depth and diversity of that experience will be particularly important in supporting Directgov to become the primary electronic channel for individuals to access government information and transactions."

Congratulations. And this has nothing to do with the fact that a large number of visitors come from the DirectGov site to mine (the free, planet-saving one)... so keep up the good work!
