Yell.com launches branded Facebook tool
LONDON - Yell.com, the online service from Yellow Pages, is making its first foray onto Facebook with a branded application to help users plan nights out.
Yell Socialiser enables users to choose from a range of categories including 'arty stuff', 'pampering' and 'night clubs' before selecting up to five venues to be displayed on an interactive map.

The branded application, created by AKQA, then allows consumers to create personalised invitations featuring themed images, which can be sent to Facebook friends.
The widget initially provides users with basic business listings, such as an address and phone number. However, brands can pay extra to have more detailed information included.
The launch of the application is part of Yell's strategy to expand its range of services beyond its own website. 'In the future, brands will need to share content with other sites to reach a wider user base,' said Matthew Bottomley, head of market and insight for Yell.com.
Yell.com recently launched netReach, an ad syndication product that can deliver geographically and contextually relevant advertising results to third-party sites.

Rebecca, you miss the point about Yellow pages. You trying searching for your local fish & chip shop, car mechanic, dry cleaner, wedding dress maker, party clown. Punch them all and search by post code in Yell and Google.... you'll soon realise what Yell.com is for. Googlegaga crazy
