Canterbury picks Cheeze for ad drive

by Media Week, Media Week 13-May-08

Canterbury, the rugby brand, has appointed digital and direct agency Cheeze to handle its online media activity, ahead of a major advertising drive.

Canterbury has relaunched its website, offering more sports gear for
sale.

As a result of this move, the brand has been hunting for a digital
agency.

Cheeze, part of Digital Marketing Group, has been commissioned to drive

sales and increase brand awareness in the UK through search marketing,

display advertising and social media.

The agency plans to implement paid search campaigns across Google, MSN
and Yahoo, as well as running display campaigns across a range of
sites.

Cheeze 2.0, the agency's team of web designers, developers and account
managers, will handle activity involving social media, blogs and
podcasting.

Canterbury has recently increased its presence in sports other than
rugby.

Last summer, for example, it linked with golfer Michael Campbell to
launch a range of golf kit and signed a deal to provide kit for Premier
League football side Portsmouth.

It has also increased its focus on hockey, cricket and fitness in recent
months.

Earlier this month, Cheeze picked up online work for PDSA, the
veterinary charity.
