FooGo plots nationwide store chain roll-out

by Gemma Charles, Marketing 13-May-08

FooGo, a premium convenience food company, is launching an assault on the retail sector with the roll-out of a chain of 40 stores across the UK.

It has been testing its retail concept in a single store in Lincoln and
as a result will initially focus its expansion on market towns and
cathedral cities that have similar consumer demographics. FooGo founder

George Robinson, said the strategy meant that London would be one of the

last places it entered.

Each outlet will source most of the ingredients used in its range of
sandwiches, wraps, salads, cakes, biscuits and meals from local
suppliers. The intention is to communicate the ethics of the food, which
comes in 100% biodegradable packaging, as the chain rolls out.

The brand's products are already available in 130 outlets, including WH
Smith in travel locations; it has annual sales of £18m.
