Alex Batchelor leaves Royal Mail marketing director post
LONDON - Royal Mail's UK marketing director Alex Batchelor is leaving the company as part of a restructure of the marketing department, Marketing can exclusively reveal.
Batchelor, who was ranked 28th in Marketing's 2007 Power 100, will step down from his role at the end of next month. It is not known whether he has another job to go to.

His departure comes just two months after Royal Mail promoted group strategy director, Alex Smith, to the new role of strategy and commercial director. Batchelor reported directly to Smith.
‘Alex has made a major contribution to Royal Mail during an immensely challenging time for the business, and I'm very grateful to him,' said Royal Mail chief executive Adam Crozier.
Prior to joining Royal Mail in 2005, Batchelor held senior marketing roles at Unilever and Orange. He has also worked oversees in Austria and the US.
Last month, Royal Mail retained Abbott Mead Vickers BBDO and Proximity on its advertising and direct marketing accounts respectively. AMV defended the £5m ad business against RKCR/Y&R and Leagas Delaney, while Proximity pitched for the £4m direct account against EHS Brann, Tequila and Rapier.
